they're pouring a lot of money into their military which, as I mentioned, is increasingly constructed to confront us specifically. Why spend all that money if you don't plan to threaten to use it.
I doubt we'll get into a full blown confrontation but I could see them sailing a few brand new carriers down to Taiwan in the next 20 years and daring us to do something about it, financial co-dependency aside.
