This is a bigger question than "who would win in a fight?". It's also "which countries approach America in terms of soft power and hard power?"

For example, at the moment there are several countries in South East Asia that are halfway along the path from being autocracies to democracies as we recognise them. Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, maybe even Vietnam given time. A big reason they are on this path is because of the example that wealthy democracies like the US, Japan, Korea offer.
As China becomes more influential in the reason, and as the US remains in a slow growth mode, what will this mean for democracy in those countries? Will the China model be more influential? Will they become more autocratic?
