true story about my movie-watching childhood: my mother was mad strict about TV.

No R rated movies (mostly), no horror, no pro wrestling, no You Can't Do That On Television (she was anti-slime; can't blame her), etc. Until college, the breadth of my movie and TV viewing was really limited.

So much so that on a trip with my youth group in junior high, Tales From The Crypt came on, and I was so worried about getting too scared and embarrassing myself in front of the girls in the room that I decided to sit in the bathroom and read a book. Which of course totally worked; no way that was more embarrassing than watching the show with the hot girls I had crushes on.
