Talked to the rents tonight. My whole family is going to Rome in December. My dad discouraged me from taking my niece Molly (age 11) to art museums.

this is EXACTLY what is wrong with my family. I swear to god. I went to so many god damn battlefields and forts I wanted to bomb them. but going to an art museum? oh no that's a stupid waste of time. and also, kids don't like that! fuck, I would have killed to go enjoy an art museum instead of another god damn battlefield.

Also, my dad started giving me advice about going to art museums. I told him, please don't. From my friends in DC (who are very well known professional artists) I have already been given LISTS of things I must do and see. and yet, since my dad is himself, he spent the next ten minutes telling me what I should go see. Except, I can't take my niece with me.
