Re: Morimoto's, it proved to be very crowded, noisy and generic. And the prime rib wasn't all that good.

I'll grant you that I'm not the greatest gourmet and at least it was something that I'll consume, but I was ready for some classic Morimoto flair. But the conversation was good and I met some great people.

On the other hand, tonight we had a much smaller affair with only 10 people at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse. It was crowded and noisy at first, and remained somewhat noisy through the night, although the crowd thinned. It's an interesting place. It actually exuded fancy-pants class while Morimoto's did not (but then, they sequestered us in the basement at Morimoto's). It was like a Morton's, only even classier. And it's the McGraw Hill building in midtown, right next door to the News Corp/Fox Business building, so there were Wall Street types even though we were miles from Wall Street. They looked somewhat... comical? I couldn't be sure if they were trying to be Gordon Gekko parodies, or if they were serious, but indeed, the had the blue-striped dress shirts with the white collars, suspenders, and slicked back hair. More than one of these guys, too.

Well, we got a big table, ordered some stupid expensive wine, and crazy expensive steak and seafood, and had a hell of a time. As you can see on Facebook, I got the 12oz filet mignon which I devoured. It was so tender, it practically melted on the fork. Just incredible.
