I do feel that the student loan situation would be helped immensely by market pressure.

I.e. parents should help guide their children to quality college education that isn't paired with crippling loan debt. meaning the student base for the uber-expensive universities shrinks. meaning the universities actually lobby on behalf of a more sane lending situation for students in order to help their enrollment numbers.
