A manager I hadn't dealt with before was there when I finalized the deal, he tried a few tricks, but I caught them.

Don't give them your phone number, only an email address that isn't even your preferred email. They'll bother the shit out of you, which is much worse if they have your phone number, but it's important to just let that play out and not make a deal too quickly.
