In response to "ST Advice needed: I would appreciate any insights from ST especially the people that are semi regular church attendees...." by Walt_Disney

my step-father became an Anglican priest after he and my mom got married...

she was the one who actually said he would be good for it (I don't see that personally).

he had to go back to UofT to get a Masters in Divinity. Would she have to also? If so, there is also the whole going back to school, supporting her through that, and maybe having debt from it. Clergy do NOT get paid much.

after that, she would only be assisting for sometime begore being invested fully.

also, don't forget that she probably would not get much choice in where she serves and I know you LOVE mississauga, in fact, I've been thinking of suggesting that you run for council.

my mom does feel VERY under the microscope and the politics within any church are as bad as any workplace plus it's very invasive to your whole way of life.

I hate to ask this but is there a chance that some of this has been fueled by post-partum hormones? if this is as out-of-the-blue as you said then perhaps she should give it some time. It seems late for her to be accepted into divinity school for this fall anyway, plus depending on how long she's been out of school, she may have to take a couple of courses first to show that she can handle going back, in fact, you might want to suggest her doing that first anyway.
