In response to "LYC: Based on the box office now, I think the media got too excited to claim "John Carter" the biggest bomb in years" by MDH

I'd say it's the biggest huge budgeted bomb in a very long time.

Especially one that had the backing of its studio up until release. People knew Pluto Nash was going to bomb for a long time.

John Carter disappointed about as much as some forecasters were hoping Titanic would back in 1997. The reason why studios make these enormous, epic budgeted films is because even when they fail (Godzilla, Superman Returns) they still eventually make some money.
