for you, on that map, I would try to play in a support role.

i.e : grab the plasma pistol, and maybe the rockets, and stay in the top of the base, and wait for the opponent to come to you.
If you use the plasma pistol to disable the opponent's vehicles, we can take them out, while keeping you alive.
the key for you, is learning to hang back some, instead of running out willy nilly.
