I think it is a good concept so far as it keeps people from dashing to the ER for every hangnail.

Even if we hit the full deductible, I think it comes close to the same amount we would have paid for the "normal" coverage. It just all hits at once instead of being spread throughout the year. But most years, I'd expect to come out ahead of paying for the full, low deductible plan.
