they'll be a better tire, so sure. as long as they're not super expensive.

think of it this way... L, M, N, P, and Q are generally reserved for special tires - off-road, studded for snow, spare tires.
R are those flimsy, but still decent cheap road tires you get at wal-mart or any other place. S, better quality, T better still. Beyond that, you start getting back in to specialized for performance. there are W, Y, and Z tires as well.
