I compared it to Red Storm Rising recently. So many characters and subplots, that if you don't read it every day, it gets hard to remember everything

...at least to this old ex-stoner.
But I remember it taking me a couple of tries to get through Red Storm Rising in college, if I gave more than a couple days between picking it up, in my pre-bong days.
