I honestly, at this point, don't see this person being truthful.

given the weirdness that started this all, I think there's enough grey area you could be walking into the middle of something completely fucked up instead of only a bad situation.
But being confronted by the husband of a potential mistress...I don't see any answers being truthful at least in a negative light.
