IMO, he asked for the proof and the woman got suddenly quiet. As I said, I think that's telling.

How far do you investigate and what kind of "evidence" are you really going to get here. This isn't a criminal investigation. I guarantee you there will be things that will look suspicious. They tend to look more suspicious when you're looking for that stuff. It is unlikely there will be anything definitive. Ultimately you'll have to put your faith in either your wife or the suspicions. You have a lot invested here, the question is whether you give in to the suspicions or not. If you find some proof at some point, then it's done, but just the process of digging, which can lead to more digging and more suspicion, but likely little proof, can be very damaging on its own.
