yeah, i was actually surprised by how firm the rule is for kindergarten in our district.

gotta be five. no exceptions. created one very awkward moment in the Q&A at orientation when a parent of a 4 year old took the school administration to task over it. "how can you deny an innocent child the chance to learn?" laid that shit on thick.
