Back in January, i ordered a wedding dress from a chinese knockoff site on a whim (it really was inexpensive). it was a standard whitish dress and as soon as it arrived I came to my senses and realized that in no way did i want to wear this dress (though it was in fact really nice.) So, into my closet it went with the vague idea that i'd donate it to a place here that resells dresses and gives the money to cancer research.
then, on the bridal forum i am reading, there was a girl in North Carolina that was just in TERRIBLE TERRIBLE financial straights due to just the worst string of luck and she was really upset that she'd have to wear something she already owned. I send her a pic of my dress and said 'it's yours if you want it.' She sent me the most effusive note back thanking me and saying, yes, she'd love it. I sent it right away. So, it got there last week. It was too small and just didn't look great on her so she's going to figure something else out, but she sent me a note saying a friend of her's is getting married soon too, and the dress is perfect for her (the friend) and would I mind terribly if she wore it instead? I said "oh, of course, it's all hers."
That was last week. The friend has posted a picture of herself in the dress on the forum, she clearly loves it, and this is great. This person has not even sent me a one word note saying 'thanks.'
I didn't do it for any other reason than to be nice and that's fine, but, seriously, wouldn't you THANK the person who randomly out of the ether gave you a wedding dress?
i sound whiny, i know.
ignore.
