in '97 I had a ricochet modem for my laptop (was like a dedicated cell phone chanel for internet) and I would email from a park (I did live updates on a folklife festival) or while hanging out city hall doing wedding photos.

- I guess there was 'texting' from the days of beepers when you'd send codes in the form of numbers, IE: 187 was the CA law number for murder and a - zeitgeist Apr 26, 12:39
