unless there's something that's an emergency, for individual employees (vs a team approach and/or something that regularly needs off-hours attention - IT coverage or the like), there has to at least be an allowance for sleep.
I'm ok with being contacted out of regular working hours, if necessary, to a point; but there shouldn't be an expectation that an 11pm e-mail is going to be acted on before sometime in the morning.
especially for those of us who at least sometimes have to deal with people in far-away timezones, it'd be crazy to expect true all-day coverage. people'd be burnt out super fast.
