There's no equivalent to the Academie Francaise for the English language, so it tends to be more... democratic

I know what you mean, in that there are particular rules of language, and that it's important to follow them to ensure there's clear communication.
But part of the charm of English is how it easily it invents and adopts new words. I think you'd limit that if you had some type of rigid English standards enforcement
