She is now pining for the ex-boyfriend (the one she dumped to date the kid), who has shown zero interest in getting back together to this point. They dated for about five years, and she decides now that she actually really loved him and only wants to be with him. Yup.
She moved into her own apartment in March. Yes, they were living together the entire time this whole thing was happening. He deserves a medal of some sort for not throwing her out over a year ago.
She claims that she realizes she fucked up and wants to get back together with Neil, and hopes he'll come around after they've had some time apart.
Yet, a couple weeks after she moved in, she tells me that she heard from the kid again, for the first time in a couple months. They got to e-mailing and talking and then she tells me "um, i invited jake to visit me for the weekend." which made me pretty fucking angry.
That visit happened two weekends ago, and I made lots of jokes to the effect of "you must be really tired from all the sex this weekend" which she laughed at (but never outright denied). She said the weather was pretty lousy for most of the weekend (she's in St. Louis) so they didn't do too much, just went out to eat a few times and talked a lot. (Also, he stayed in a hotel, not in her apartment.) She claims he's changed, all for the better, but they're not back together or anything (though he did say he wanted to), she only wants to be friends right now and as far as dating goes, only wants to be with Neil.
I'm skeptical on the whole "he's changed" thing, as he was a pretty wretched person to everybody that wasn't her and nobody does a complete 180 just like that (not at age 19 or 20 or whatever the fuck he is now). I still view it as a ploy to get into her pants. Okay, so it's a pretty long way to go for a fuck, but still.
Chatting over the last week or two (which I know I need to cut back on, and I'm working on it), she's been acting somewhat strange, as if there's something she's not telling me, though I'm probably seeing only the things I want to see. And yes, she did say that I am invited to visit her for a weekend in the future, not that it's as easy for me to drop the money on a flight like it is for the kid (whose parents are loaded).
