and now that I'm reading down the column, she is undergoing treatment, just not the "throw everything at it" variety.

I'm not opposed to that. so much depends on what's in the mix.

someday we'll treat fewer breast and lung tumors, because not all of them are terminal. the trick is to figure out which are and which aren't.

same for prostate cancer. someday, there will be far fewer treated than there are now, as it's a relatively small number that can actually lead to death.
