Have always been the team fighting apocalyptic like events and villians
Mephisto
Loki (combined with other people bent to his will)
Ultron
Skree / Krull
Thanos
Mega villians not just supervillians
I mean if I remember right they were formed to stop a rampaging Hulk in the first place.
DC has been positiion JLA very similarly in cartoons and other things lately and I like it as the dynamic betwen the characters can be a lot of fun.
Generally all these heroes do defeat their nemesis villians regularly but like with the mega villians I talked about you need a team. Remember Loki was beat in Thor as it was one v one - and Thor is a god of equal power. Lokis strength was always pulling the strings and manipulation (very Lex Luthor)
