actually, to the google!
from the irs site, this is what I was thinking of for the first part:
$25 limit. You can deduct no more than $25 for business gifts you give directly or indirectly to each person during your tax year.
but! for entertainment and food, you can deduct 50%; so if something is worth more than $50, and can be considered entertainment, that's the way to go.
(it's been a while since we could give gifts, and we have to limit entertainment; so this may be old??)
