My boss said I should give her the chance to improve. 2 weeks. Made a huge list of things she needed to know BEFORE she could do half of her job requirements.
When confronted on the sleeping, she said "I wasn't sleeping, I was playing video slots on my iPhone."... I guess that's a little better.
She at first just thought this was a progress chat..soon realized I was telling her she had 2 weeks to justify her job. She's actually been digging in and spending a lot of time with our other support person. I handed her a 2000 page manual on the video bridge and she seemed saddened at that.
I don't know.. I guess we'll see, but she's had EVERY opportunity now to prove herself. I can let her go with a clean conscious if it comes to that.

her defense was "I've been asking you for weeks what I should be doing... never got direction, so just killing time"

I've been dropped off on an island like this before - it's frustrating when no one will listen to you.

does she have a point? A job description is great, but if you don't know the HOW, you only know the WHAT, it is tough. But, based on your first post
