Check clearance at your local retailers.

Your selection will be limited, but the prices are usually pretty good.
TRU seems to have moved away from actually discounting their clearance LEGO (it sits on the shelf with a $X.98 price that is only a few dollars off original retail), but Target, Meijer and K-Mart will mark down their clearance by 50% eventually.
