Even inside rap, which would you have thought would stick around longer Run D.M.C. or the Beastie Boys?

They could have gone the route of Vanilla Ice or Snow, and just disappeared. Instead, they evolved, and everyone loved them for it. Sometimes when bands change they lose or shed some of their fans (See Pearl Jam). The Beasties got more popular.
I'm still kinda shocked rap has become the force it is in music today.
