I'd bet I used Yahoo! longer ago than anyone here. quite soon after it got its name. (location + geekgeek.)
iirc, after they hooked-up with google for a few years, they went back to being their own search engine before the switch to bing (after completely screwing themselves up by not accepting msft's offer). I just completely brain blipped to not mention it.
