When the scholarship application guidelines specify a 2-page essay, am I wrong to deduct points for 3 pages?

Not to mention the application package submitted in a presentation folder with head-shot cover, table of contents, C.V., and transcript, along with the four documents we ask for.
All of which I have to take apart and scan - one. slow. page. at. a. time !
Grrrrr.
