They are her kids. I do think they are awesome and care about them. She will ask my opinion but not in front of them and I try to help.
If the kids ask me things directly I will be happy to share my advice (i.e. the 15 year old asked me about a boy that broke up with her on vday and then changed his mind - i just said well he would have done it for a reason right? ask what ti was and then YOU make a choice whats best for you and go with what you feel is best for you...
I try never to tell them WHAT to do - just provide perspective on how to look at it. They seem to like that I dont BS or have an agenda.
I have ot keep telling the 17yo that she doesnt have to listen to the advice - but I reserve the right to point and laugh before helping her up later :)
I am not dad and I have no drive to be dad. I am moms BF and someone that wants then to be successful - I try to leave it at that.
