I won't even say they think it's a joke or not...but no matter how it works, it'll be taken about 100x more serious than anyone ever intended

whenever the teens want it to be taken seriously. Just remember, you're the outsider, you're the interlooper into their family.

Whatever happened, you're not 'dad' and as Andie inputs below and from pmb's posted in the past...to earn that respect as a full-fledged step-parent...takes a helluva lot longer than 6 months.

Just tread softly, take your time through this (you can see why we always bring this up given this situation developed in what, 10 weeks?)
