David, from B2, I agree with you that the actions of Romney as a kid should not be an issue in the election. Where I disagree is his responses as an

adult. We all did stupid things as kids and were certainly often hurtful to other kids. But his response just fits the general narrative that applies to him. It's disingenuous and tepid. He's been called out for his behavior as a kid (newsworthy? Borderline, but it's out there) and so, forced to acknowledge it, he gives a watered down politically expedient response. It's why he's so hard to relate to or trust. He denies remembering any specifics and apologizes "if anyone was hurt". If he had said "I did some stupid and obviously hurtful things as a kid. I was a kid. Looking back now I'm not proud of those things and I can see that people were hurt by those actions and I'm very sorry for that. I've grown up a lot since then and obviously now better now. I wish I had known better then." I would be totally satisfied. As it is, it's something that barely moves the needle because I understand we can't go back and change the stupid things we did as kids even though we might like to. But it just feeds the established narrative and adds to my general dislike and distrust of the guy.
