actually the church didn't give a damn about the ruttings of man, they cared only about their souls

Weddings were not done in the churches until king henry broke off cause they wouldn't allow a divorce (which is different) then made a big show of getting married in his new church
Previously marriages where announced on the church steps, mostly because it tended to be the highest point in the market square
