it doesn't have to be done that often, as the insides of bags are mostly touched by non-messy/germy things. I wipe-out/off the plastic ones with

a clorox or seventh generation wipe every so often, with more focus if there's been a spill; and I wash the washables periodically, mostly when the outsides get dirty. the washables are all material that will dry nicely, and germs don't like that.
I still protect things like ground turkey packages separately, and produce usually gets its own bag that gets more frequent attention; but, really, it's just not much work and has been a no-thought thing for more than half my life now.
