with some recent version, they added "MS Search" under Applications > Windows
I never noticed the addition, nor that it's checked by default, until I started having huge and annoying delays in search not working in Outlook (and in Windows itself, but Outlook is way more frequently used by me).
uncheck that sucker, as it clears and then causes the whole freaking index on your system to be rebuilt at every startup.
it was taking hours for mine to complete every day in office 2007; but, with an upgrade to 2010, it was neverending.
piriform should be embarrassed about this, as it looks like there have been tons of complaints that haven't been acted upon so far. I never would have thought of this being a cause on my own, ss I never had anything checked for outlook or windows before. oof.
