I've only used one for a small load; but my advice is to check Yelp for reviews, if they're well-used in your area, and make a bunch of calls.

I started with an online quote from 1-800-got-junk that ended up being several times higher than the awesome small business guys I found by checking reviews. I got quotes from a few in-between, too, before deciding on them.

some do by weight, some by volume (with sometimes not enough levels), etc.
