I found out this morning that I am eligible to receive a brand-new, current model of insulin pump (a $5000 value) free - they are upgrading pumps that are out of warranty. I've had my current one for 4 yrs so it's definitely time for a new one.
Under my current insurance plan, I am also eligible to get the continuous blood glucose monitoring system for free as well. (It's another catheter I'll have to insert/change every few days, but this system checks my blood sugar every minute or so and sends the information into my insulin pump so I can be alerted if my sugar is too high or low. Very few insurances cover this 100%. My current plan does, so I can at least try it out and see if it's for me.)
