Positive line of attack to improve the fairness when and how you can.
I hate "fair" issues - the first time my dad told me "Life isn't fair Jenny" - I hated that he wouldn't see MY side - and it took me a long time to get to where I could look past it and go a different path that was taking the high road and turning my back on calling it out but instead doing something to even it out. I am not always sucessful at this - but I do try.
FWIW - I feel for you raising a kid that will come up against this - I'm not sure I'd have the guts my dad did to let me learn the hard knocks of life so I was tougher and prepared for disappointments later on.
