I actually sent an e-mail to corporate over great service earlier this year, and got a response quickly.

We tip well and have even emailed corporate/managers when we really felt we got above the normal service. -- nm

I almost always offer "I appreciate the help" or "thank you for the help". If someone goes way beyond expectations I'll note it to a supervisor, too.
