I assumed that given the result from the facehugger infection of the Space Jockey at the end looking very much like a young queen, that the biologicals in the canisters were generating Queens. This would make sense if you were trying to deploy it to wipe out a planet. This would also make sense related to how the queen ended up on LV-426
