just got back from my car's "emissions test". apparently testing your car's emissions is no longer part of the emissions test

I ask the guys for a report on my emissions so after I replace my cam sensor I can see how much of an improvement it made on my exhaust. he said "we don't do that anymore". I asked "you don't actually check and measure my car's emissions during your emissions test?" he says "no, we check the onboard computer." I told him "so you don't know what's wrong (I already know the code was for the cam sensor), you don't know if it actually is effecting my exhaust, and you don't know if there is anything actually noncompliant with the exhaust of my car, but you want me to pay to fix this thing that you can't even tell me what it is and that will make my exhaust within limits?" he says "that's what illinois says".
I fucking hate illinois
