The birthday/dinner party at the French Laundry was amazing. Probably the best meal I will ever have in life.

The usual menu there is 7 courses, ours was 10, and that didn't include the extra bread or palate cleansing courses. The usual menu includes 1 or 2 "money" dishes, but all our courses were special. It took 5 hours to serve them all. The wine pairings were perfect. No expense was spared. Private dining room, custom menu, and some very special bottles of wine. The screaming eagle wines were incredible. Several of us requested the empty bottles as souvenirs. Afterwards we got to tour the kitchen and thank the chef personally. He congratulated the host on his menu directions and suggested he open a restaurant if he ever got tired of working in tech. Then he presented us with a special dessert (this after 3 official dessert courses, coffee, chocolates and after dinner wine) that he was experimenting with that combined cream, wine, chocolate and herbal infusions that was amazing.
During the limo ride up we told stories about how we met the host and shared favorite memories and embarrassing moments. One the way back we mostly napped because we were in a state of food torpor after eating all that rich food.
I definitely recommend the restaurant if you want to celebrate a special occasion.
