I think some of it is the film - some of the dialogue is rotten.

But I also was smiling at it even though I was inwardly groaning at it.

Basically, I think this film has a pretty narrow target audience, and anyone who isn't in it is *not* going to enjoy it. Since I graduated from high school in 1986 and this was my music, I think I was inclined to love it. There were a lot of little things in it that I really appreciated (pins on blue jean vests, a Journey Escape t-shirt) and the music was fun. There are also some cameos I enjoyed.
