He was convicted earlier of domestic violence.

Wiki has some errors with their report. It was his son, not his daughter. And he rammed the car (I think he t-boned it, while it was parked) but not "off the road." Well, it went over the median.
He plead guilty to one count of endangerment in exchange for having the aggravated assault and aggravated domestic violence charges dropped. His wife was unhappy with the prosecutors for making that deal.
I thought there was another incident between those two, but I could be mistaken.
