Once you* realize that G+ isn't GoogleBook, then it's easier to see what it's good for.

I use G+ more as a feed reader type thing than a keep in contact thing.
I wish more people I know were using it, but I get a lot from G+ that I can't get from FB.
I will agree that there should be an option to keep people from adding you to a circle without permission, but you can block them once they've done so, if you want to.
