i used a store card last week (HBC Mastercard for Canadians who care). it requires a PIN. as soon as i put it in the card reader thingy it came up as declined. there is zero balance on this card. i made her try again, instantly declined, before i hit any buttons. the cashier agreed that my card must be defective and i needed to call them.
so i called last week when this happened. the stupid customer service guy just kept saying 'you must have typed in the wrong PIN three times, we'll just reset it.' No matter *how many times* i said "that is NOT the problem, it rejected before i even typed the PIN", he just stuck to his script and said 'that has to be the problem.' So, i reset the PIN and said "if this happens next time, i'm going to be REALLY angry."
Well, of course it just happened, exactly the same.
So i called again.
Today's moron kept saying "but there is nothing wrong with your account, it shouldn't do that."
Yes, I KNOW. That. Is. Why. I. Am. Calling. You.
Again, stuck in a loop of me having to say "but there IS a problem, and it must be with the card. Maybe you should send me a new card?" Them "but there is nothing wrong with your account."
repeat ad nauseum.
I finally got uber bitchy and said 'look, send me a new card. asap."
i am getting a new card.
