We both really liked the name and we figure that due to genetics she will likely have red hair like Amy (though likely not as strong). Though I think after seeing Brave on the weekend, that Merida would have been a strong contender for my wife too.
Princess Disney has the long form of her name "Emilia" which came from Amy Pond and shortform is "Emi" which is the name of one of my wife Japanese friends.
