wow, I couldn't remember, asked my mom, turns out the subject of lunch boxes is still, 50 years later, a sore subject...

in early elem, I had a lunch box, since I had to wait and wait for the bus, bored out of my gourd, I'd eat the desert, toss the box up and catch it, trade stuff for goodies and eat them before we got to the school.
for lunch I'd have nothing. so I bitched to my teacher, got a free lunch from the cafeteria.
a couple days of that, hey this is cool
then social services contacted my mom....AND my dad who was stationed in Coos Bay watching for russians to nuke the country.
