I can mention here that the lack of commercial building mail delivery on Saturday has a real effect on business.

The volume of undelivered weekend mail on Monday typically means the delivery doesn't arrive until after the bank closes or at least after the cutoff time. That affects our ability to deposit checks, and yes, most of our financial transactions are still done by paper instead of wire.

Only a few months ago the commercial paper market dried up and nosedived vast numbers of businesses who rely on credit for day to day cash balances. I think that's lousy planning on the part of business, but you can't deny that eliminating a delivery day has a real effect. The day I've heard proposed is Tuesday. Even though that is typically the lightest volume day, changing the dynamic would likely have an affect on business. It's not chicken little to point that out.

Cutting Saturday delivery at this point would only affect residential customers, but I wonder if they want to next close window hours at post offices on Saturday, which limits the ability to send material at postal rates. Any loss of service is a loss of quality of life. That kind of crap in the modern world just isn't acceptable to me.
