And this is an area to look at but also difficult. I had a long conversation with a hospital administrator/doctor who is now getting an mba and

looking at these issues. What about when the doctor performs knee surgery and gets a good outcome. What if the same outcome might have been obtained by rest and physical therapy. That happens. Surgeons want to cut, but it's not always the only or best option, though the result may be very good. It's ridiculously complicated.
